Last updated: 3 September 2026
ROBAM operates the store and website at robam.net.au, including related information, content, features, tools, products and services (the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and store personal information when you visit, use, purchase from, or otherwise communicate with us through the Services.
The Services are powered by Shopify. If there is a conflict between our other website terms and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy prevails for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read it and understand how we handle personal information as described below.
1. Who we are
In this Privacy Policy, “ROBAM”, “we”, “us” and “our” means the operator of robam.net.au.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and any other privacy law that applies to us.
2. Personal information we collect
When we say “personal information”, we mean information that identifies you, or from which you can reasonably be identified. It does not include information that is anonymous or has been de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably identify you.
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, billing address and shipping address.
- Account information: username, password, security questions, preferences and settings, if you create an account.
- Transaction information: products you view, add to cart, add to a wishlist, purchase, return, exchange or cancel, together with order and payment confirmation details.
- Payment information: payment method and transaction confirmation. Card payments are processed by Shopify and our payment providers. We do not store full credit or debit card numbers.
- Communications: information you include when you contact us, request a quote, book a service, or submit a form.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device details, network information, and how you interact with the Services, including through cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we collect personal information
We may collect personal information:
- Directly from you, including when you create an account, place an order, request delivery or installation, contact support, subscribe to updates, or otherwise provide information to us;
- Automatically through the Services, including from your device and through cookies and similar technologies;
- From service providers who collect or process information on our behalf, such as Shopify, payment, delivery, analytics and customer-support providers; and
- From partners or other third parties where that is permitted by law, for example to complete a delivery or prevent fraud.
If you do not provide personal information we reasonably need, we may not be able to complete your order, arrange delivery, provide support, or otherwise supply the Services.
4. How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- Provide and improve the Services: process payments, fulfil orders, arrange shipping and installation, manage returns and exchanges, maintain your account, remember your preferences, and improve the shopping experience.
- Communicate with you: send order, delivery and service updates, and respond to enquiries.
- Marketing: send promotional emails, SMS or post, and show advertising on the Services or other websites, including based on products you have viewed, added to cart or purchased. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time.
- Security and fraud prevention: authenticate accounts, protect payments, investigate suspected fraud or misuse, and keep the Services secure.
- Legal reasons: comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms and policies.
5. How we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Shopify and other service providers who help us operate the Services, including IT, payments, analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfilment and shipping;
- delivery, installation and after-sales partners, where needed to complete your order or service request;
- marketing and advertising partners, including services used by Shopify to support advertising based on your activity;
- our related companies, where reasonably necessary to operate the business;
- a buyer or successor, if we are involved in a sale, merger, restructure or similar transaction; and
- regulators, courts, law-enforcement agencies or other third parties where we are required or permitted by law, or where it is necessary to protect the Services, our rights, or the rights of our customers or others.
We do not sell personal information for money. Some advertising and analytics tools may use cookies or similar technologies to show you relevant ads. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of ROBAM promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails.
6. Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit may be transmitted to Shopify and other third parties that may be located outside Australia.
We also use certain Shopify features that may combine information from your interactions with our store, other merchants and Shopify. In those cases, Shopify is responsible for that processing, including requests about how Shopify uses that information. To learn more, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.
7. Overseas disclosure
We may disclose personal information to overseas recipients, including Shopify and other service providers in Canada, the United States and other countries where they operate.
Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, unless an exception under the Privacy Act applies.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers, including Shopify, use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, understand how the Services are used, and support advertising. You can control cookies through your browser. If you block cookies, some parts of the Services may not work as expected.
9. Direct marketing
If you subscribe to updates or otherwise agree to hear from us, we may send you marketing about ROBAM products, offers and kitchen content. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email, or by contacting us. If you opt out of marketing, we may still send you non-promotional messages about your account, orders, delivery or service requests.
10. Third-party websites
The Services may include links to websites or platforms we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. You should read their privacy policies before providing personal information. Information you share on public or third-party social platforms may also be visible to others.
11. Children
The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information to us over unsecured channels.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide the Services, maintain your account, meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements and policies. We then delete or de-identify it where it is reasonable to do so.
13. Access, correction and your choices
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may also ask us to delete information, restrict certain uses, or provide a copy of information you have given us.
These rights are not always absolute. We may refuse a request where the Privacy Act or another law allows us to do so, and we will tell you why if that happens. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. You may also review how Shopify handles personal information at https://privacy.shopify.com/en.
14. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the updated version on this website and change the “Last updated” date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
